Path of Exile
Find out what the latest Path of Exile league changes, which builds need another look, and whether it is worth starting fresh.
Curse of the Allflame is a strong reason to return, but expect to rethink builds and endgame priorities.
This is the original Path of Exile, not Path of Exile 2. A new league can replace the economy overnight, redirect endgame farming, and turn a comfortable build plan into homework, so returning without checking the latest changes is rarely painless.
Is now a good time to return?
Version 3.29, Curse of the Allflame, launches July 24, 2026. It combines a new seafloor challenge league with major changes to sockets, spellcasters, Abyss, Legion, the Atlas, and the Scion. That breadth makes it one of the strongest reasons to begin a fresh character in the original game this year.
Most sockets will be white, so gem color no longer blocks basic skill and support combinations. That makes early gearing friendlier, but old build guides, farming routes, and socket advice still need a careful review.
What should you check first?
Choose a current build plan, revisit your endgame farming assumptions, and do not count on old spell balance or Legion and Abyss rewards. The prelaunch verdict is strong, but live reward tuning, server stability, and follow-up fixes will decide whether the league fully delivers.
Start with the newest verdict.
Path of Exile 3.29 Makes Returning Easier—and Builds Harder
The July 24 expansion removes one old gearing headache while adding enough league, endgame, class, and balance work to make every build plan worth checking.
